Description

Phones within the bank branch comprise electronic assemblies housed within plastic and minor metal casings. These units incorporate printed circuit boards, internal wiring, display components , and associated peripheral hardware.  They are connected to the bank’s secure network and power infrastructure.  Decommissioning requires formal system deregistration, isolation of power and data connections, and secure handling of any data-bearing components prior to reuse, recycling, or disposal.

Safe Disassembly Instructions

• Formal system deregistration must be completed prior to removal. 

• Removal must be authorised by the bank or asset owner. 

• Electrical and data services must be confirmed safe for isolation. 

• Only authorised personnel permitted to handle data-bearing equipment.  


Removal Procedure


• Power down the device in accordance with IT procedures. 

• Isolate electrical supply or disconnect Power over Ethernet (PoE) connection. 

• Disconnect all data and network cables. 

• Disconnect handset and associated cabling. 

• Detach device from desk mounts or brackets where fixed. 

• Segregate equipment for secure processing, reuse, refurbishment or recycling.  


* Data-bearing components must follow certified secure data destruction or approved data sanitisation protocols where applicable. 

* Avoid damage to casing and internal components during removal. 

* Do not dismantle internal components on site unless specifically authorised. 

* Processing must comply with organisational information security and e-waste requirements.

End-of-Life Destination & Instructions

Phones and PC’s are returned to a supplier for use in the BAU pool (for break fix).
